Teen Fashion Tips

As a teen you are discovering who you are, so have fun and explore with your wardrobe. There are a few things to keep in mind when experimenting to find your style.

-    Practice good hygiene. No matter what you wear, make sure you and your clothes are clean, regardless of your style choice.
-    Teeth and nails matter. If you wear nail polish, keep it fresh and chip free. If not make sure they are trimmed or filed and clean.
-    Have fun, experiment with styles to find what suits you. You can express your personality and beliefs through your clothes.
-    Wear the right size. Your clothes need to fit properly. If you wear clothes that are too big, you make look sloppy and too tight looks trashy. This does not mean your mini skirt can’t hug your curves and show off your long legs, it will in the right size. You can look good and be comfortable too. You may be proud of your new cleavage, but leave a little to the imagination and don’t show it all.
-    Jewelry can dress up or down your outfit, but make sure you stay with the same type, don’t wear a gold necklace and plastic bracelets. Though, if you are looking to create a new trend, you might try it.
-    Don’t be afraid to try new things. Being a teen is a time to explore your sense of style and fashion. You can wear all black one week, and then wear bright colors and patterns the next. You are too you to get stuck in a fashion rut. Once you find the style that works for you, experience within that style with color, patterns, and accessories.

Fashion or Style

Is it better to buy the latest fashions, or have style? Style transcends fashion trends. If you look stylish and well put together, in clothes that flatter your body, you will look good, no matter what your body type is.

Style does not mean spending lots of money, unless of course, you have it to spend, then go for it. Style is about making the best of your shape, so knowing your body type is important. Not all women are built the same, and some styles and cuts flatter one share and not another. Are you a pear, apple, square, or hourglass? Do your research and find out what styles and cuts flatter your figure type. There are cuts that flatter all shapes and sizes. You can have style and look great even if you do not have the figure of a runway model.

Style is also about attitude, what makes you feel good about yourself and how you look.

Having classic, well cut, shape flattering pieces is a worthy investment that transcends all the trends, while making you look and feel great.  This does not mean spending beyond your means, and may take time to acquire, but one you have them, your wardrobe will last for years, regardless of seasonal trends. You want to have some timeless staple pieces such a classic pair of black pants, a black dress, a white shirt, and a pair of shape flattering jeans. These are pieces that can be dressed up or down depending on your needs. You can accessorize them to go with the seasons or trends. A fabulous bag or a pair of shoes that scream “look at me” can dramatically change the look of even the most classic pieces in your wardrobe.

After you have gotten your foundational wardrobe completed, you call add additional pieces that will come and go along with the seasons.
